UNDERSTANDING HOW EARLY ENVIRONMENTS INFLUENCE DEVELOPMENT

The Institute for the Science of Early Years and Youth is based in East London, one of the most sociodemographically diverse regions in the world. Our mission is to advance understanding of how different environments shape early childhood development. We move beyond traditional laboratory settings by studying children’s brain function in real-world contexts where they play, interact, and learn. Through innovative, world-leading methods, we aim to reveal how children grow and thrive in the environments that matter most: their everyday lives.

At ISEY, we use our cutting-edge methods to explore how early social and physical environments shape children's development, such as their attention, self-regulation and communication. We then use these insights to provide consultancy, training, and policy advice.
